Significance of Nidhivan


'Nidhi' means treasure and 'van' means forest This temple has great significance as it is believed Shri RadhKrishna rest, sleep and perform Raas at this place.

This place is also related to Sri Hith Harivansh Mahaprabhu's disciple Gowswami Haridasji the founder of Banke Bihari Temple.It was here in the lush greens of NidhiVan Haridsji dug out the idol of Kunj Bihari now known and worshipped as 'Bankey Bihari'after the blessings Of Shri Hith Harivansh Mahaprabhu the founder of Radhavallabh Sampradaya.

Features of Nidhivan:-


INidhi Van is situated in residential area of Vrindavan. It appears like a grove or small forest surrounded by residential houses. There is a temple of Radha Rani known as "Radharani Shringaar Ghar".

The shrine made of marble has a bed inside, which is decorated with flowers by the priest every evening. The samadhi (memorial) of Swami Hari Das is also within this complex.Apart from these there is a well inside the premises known as the lord Krishna's well it is belived once Shri Radharani asked for drinking water during the dance so Lord Krishna dugged this well from his flute and offered her water.

Mystery of the temple after Sunset :-


Midst the evergreen lush of trees growing downwards in tiling positions. There is also an abundance of monkeys and chirping birds in Nidhivan. All the priests and devotee’s chants mantras in this place and makes the surrounding pure and religious.

After the sunset nobody is allowed to stay one can see the monkey and birds leaving the place if noticed even the ants are believed to leave the place as it is believed till today Shri RadhaKrishna perform their transcendental Raas Lila’s and the trees morph into Gopi’s dancing along with them many people say that they have heard the voice of ‘ghungroos’ or anklets as proof. People are asked to leave because who ever would witness will turn blind, deaf or dumb forever. Those who have stayed back have either been found dead or have lost their minds.

About the Temple :-


The murti’s of Sri Radhakrishna are worshipped in the temple in the evening puja some beautifying or Shringaar items like saree, laddus, bangles, paan or betel nut, flowers, water pitcher etc are kept around the bed and the temple is locked.

In the morning, as the temple gate opens the flowers are scattered, sweets are tasted and the paan or betel nut are found chewed one can even notice the bedsheet of the bed full of wrinkles. It is believed that after performing the raas Leela; Shree Krishna and Radha rani comes there for rest. One should visit the Shayan aarti and Mangala aarti to witness this exotic Lila to feel the presence of divine. As one walks in this holy grove chanting Lord’s name soul feels so peaceful that no word can explain it.
