Dusshera and Diwali festival

Celebrations:

Dussehra in bright fortnight of Ashwin is celebrated on the tenth day of this month when the Deity is decorated with heavy Royal Red Garbs and ornaments. On the ears Deity adorns germinated barley leaves known as "Jawara" in traditional parlance. Exactly after twenty days Dhanteras and Diwali, the festivities of lights and other festivals connected with it are celebrated with gaiety and pomp and are worth witnessing. From the 13th day of dark fortnight or Kartik (Dhan Teras), the Deity sits in Sterling-Silver Hatari. On the day of Kartik mavasya is celebrated as Diwali with lighting diyas. 'Deep daan' is performed in the temple it is believed who ever performs this his or her life gets filled with lights and shuns all darkness by the grace of 'Sri Radhavallabh'.

Decorations and bhog:
On DussheraThe temple musicians, besides singing before Deity verses related to Dussehra, sing special verse composed by Sri Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu-"KHELET RAS RASIK BRAJ MANDAL".On Dhanteras the Deity adorns Green Zari Garb (Baga) whereas on the next day, i.e. Roop Chaturdasi or Chhoti Deewali (14th day of dark fortnight), He adorns Red Zari attire and sits in Hatari made of Sterling Silver. On the Deepawali Day, the Lord adorns white zari dress, playing 'Chaupar' both times (Morning and Evening), enjoying His seat in Silver Hatari. 'Chaupar' a cross circular board game made of wool or cloth, with wooden pawns and six cowry shells to be used to determine each player's move, it is believed to be the ancestor of today 'Ludo' game. The Temple is decorated with colorful electric bulbs and hundreds of earthen lamps. Fire crackers are burn in the outer portico in the honor of Lord Radhavallabh. There are two big stands which are lit with lamps from bottom to top which enhances the beauty of the temple and festival.
