The Importance Of Charity

Charity means to help others through materialistic or financially. Though charity work wonders for one’s purification of soul it only happens when does it selflessly without any intention. In shrimad bhagwat charity is expressed an important organ of one’s life and how difficult are its norm a single mistake can spoil its beauty but patience and good intentions can unite our soul with the divine. Once there had been a king known as raja nrig, he believed in charity and use to give more than thousands of cows in charity to sages in one time. Once unintentionally the cow given to one rishi trod back to the cow herd which had yet to be given in charity, nobody realized this had happened. The king then performed the charity in which he gave the cow again to other sage. Both the sages realized this mistake and fought for justice before the king, the king agreed to his mistake and tried to correct it by giving more cows in charity but none did agree. After death the king reached to yamraj’s door and was asked whether he would pay for his sins first or would enjoy the result of good deeds. The king opted for the first and was thrown in dark dried well in form of a chameleon. His good deeds and repentance showed its power one day shri Krishna’s son were playing around the well and told the shri Krishna about it. Shri Krishna came up to the well and as he touched the chameleon the king turned into a sparkling soul. King was full of smiles and gleamed with shines of god’s bliss. Thus, charity is god’s gift one should always remember we are not the ones who can give anything to others. It is god who gives us this opportunity hence we should be grateful to god who made us the medium for charity.

  1. To be charitable is to exist at a higher more purer level. It is therefore understandable that we think of it as god’s gift. Hence, it is god that is being generous and charitable…we are only the vessels by which charity is given.
