Basant Panchami is the colorful festival which marks the arrival of spring season with budding flowers and melodious chirps of birds. The prominent color of Basanti-lemon yellow has a significant importance in Vrindavan as Shri Radhavallabhji adorns lemon yellow colored dress on this auspicious day. The winter socks and gloves are put away. The bhog offered is also yellow in color for eg: Jalebi, Mohan bhog, Mohan Thaal, Imarti etc. The ‘dol’ -swing in which Shri Radhavallabhji reside is also yellow colored decorated with beautiful flowers. Special couplets written on the arrival of Basant are sung in Samaj which create a vibrant atmosphere. Such eternal beauty of spring on Basant Panchami bids the blues of winter away and marks the arrival of new blooming happiness in everyone’s heart.
